1. Medicare For All
Healthcare is a human right, human rights are non-negotiable, and our current system is simply not working. There is no social or economic end game to keeping healthcare semi-private and impossibly expensive, there is only waste and suffering. Medicare For All will not only save thousands of lives and improve long term national health, it will save trillions of dollars by reducing administrative and subsidy costs.
The damage done to our public health system by Trump and RFK Jr. in the past few months alone has only exacerbated the pressing need for healthcare reform. Medicare For All is not the “radical” policy that the richest people in this country want you to believe it is. It’s the practical first step in mitigating the generations of harm done by this administration, restoring trust in our public health system and creating the sustainable access to medical care needed to keep Americans healthy and the country prosperous.
Some first steps to making healthcare more affordable:
Rejecting the influence of corporate lobbying and talking point falsehoods used to maintain the massively profitable private insurance sector.
Establish national rate negotiation so the government can help lower prices for medical devices, hospital stays, doctor services, and more.
Lower prescription drug prices, because I find it hard to believe that Donald Trump will fulfill his pledge to do so.
What this will look like in Congress:
Supporting legislation that combats exploitive and anticompetitive pharmaceutical practices like Evergreening and Pay-To-Delay such as the Eliminating Thickets to Improve Competition (ETHIC) Act.
Voting in favor of the Medicare Dental, Hearing, and Vision Expansion Act to expand Medicare coverage to include vision, hearing, and dental.
Introducing legislation banning exploitive health insurer practices like Fail First policies that delay necessary patient care and drug tier coverage exclusions that subject the sickest Americans to the highest copays.
Supporting state-led efforts to manufacture prescription drugs domestically.
2. Stop Funding Genocide
As a school shooting survivor, I began my adult life calling for an end to the violent slaughter of innocent children and adults. That meant stopping violence against everyone.
If elected to congress, I will vote against sending money or weapons to the State of Israel, "defensive" or otherwise, and vote in favor of implementing meaningful sanctions against Israel and the UAE for their continued support of genocides in Gaza and Sudan.
As a proud Jew, I will not allow the persecution my faith has endured for thousands of years to be exploited as an excuse to commit a genocide and colonial violence aganist Palestinians, or anyone else. The State of Israel is not a simply “safe place for the Jews” nor a beacon of stability or democracy in the Middle East. It is the direct result of a colonial project and corporate interest that willingly puts its own citizens in harm's way with regional conflict escalation. The State of Israel’s actions endanger Jews across the world by falsely associating its own violent, horrific acts with our very existence.
This humanitarian crisis is so inhuman that there are United States congresspeople who own stock in the arms manufacturers that sell weapons to the State of Israel, while these same legislators back billions in arms sales. They are not only supporting a genocide, they are financially invested in it. A massive contributor to this moral atrocity is the Pro-Israel lobby, a collection of organizations that spend insane amounts of money on placing politicians in our government who operate in the interests of the right-wing nationalist Israeli government and their military and intelligence operations.
As Americans struggle to afford the groceries and childcare needed to support their families, we are sending billions of dollars to put bullets in the guns that are firing at children waiting in line for fresh water. The UN reports that the IDF is “deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part,” and “imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group.” The commission highlights humanitarian aid workers being “directly targeted and killed,” as well as confirming that “Some children, including toddlers, were shot in the head by snipers.”
Americans’ tax dollars should not be spent on children getting shot in the head by snipers. We must block aid to Israel and conduct the largest humanitarian aid campaign in history, and we must sanction the UAE and prepare to support all humanitarian efforts to provide aid to those suffering from the violence and displacement of the RSF’s genocidal war in Sudan.
3. Abolish ice
As one of the youngest congressional candidates in the country, I am still older than ICE. It is an unnecessary, unchecked, and poorly administered agency that is now infringing on foundational rights with anonymity and impunity. An organization that can be turned into the President’s fascist secret police in a matter of months cannot be reformed, only dismantled.
ICE does not serve any actual domestic security purpose. It is the private police force of our authoritarian President. They violate laws that corrode the rights of all Americans, and physically brutalize innocent human beings. The Department of Homeland Security is capable of everything ICE does, with appropriate rule of law checks. Let’s be clear: ICE does not help solve immigration issues at all.
We must re-establish the Immigration and Naturalization Service abolished by the Homeland Security Act of 2002 to actually improve the immigration process. Immigrants make this country great, and we should be uplifting them, not terrorizing their families.
4. Gun Violence PReVENTION
After many of my classmates were murdered, I founded one of the largest gun violence prevention efforts in history. This is a fight I take personally. Many Democrats across the country see gun control as a losing issue, and back off from the fight. They will talk about how atrocious our country’s gun violence epidemic is, but will not disrupt our system in an effort to prevent these massacres. It doesn’t help that while Republicans are bought off by the gun lobby that uses mass shootings as an advertising campaign, many Democrats are invested in weapons manufacturers.
Many of the crises this country faces can be directly related to the gun violence epidemic. It is a healthcare issue, with the horrifying rate of suicides using firearms being preventable with expanded mental health services, and with many gun violence victims losing their livelihoods trying to pay for emergency treatment. It is a crime issue, with violent criminals buying guns in bulk in red states with atrocious gun laws and selling them in the streets. The weapons that drug cartels use to enforce brutal violence as they pump drugs into our streets come right down the border from the United States.
I am a school shooting survivor, a member of a community that people in other developed countries cannot comprehend. Assault weapons are not safe for civilian use, and there are too many in circulation. Assault weapons must be banned. Background checks must be implemented for all firearms sales. Safe storage laws must be implemented all over the country to protect children from killing each other and themselves with their parents’ weapons. Red flag laws are so common-sense that years ago, many Republicans were even onboard. Gun violence in America is a solvable issue, and I refuse to act like it’s too late to combat it.
5. Fight The AI Oligarchs
AI is destroying our environment, our mental health, and our job market. It is being used by politicians like Donald Trump and Andrew Cuomo to manipulate and confuse voters. People are using AI to create child pornography and deepfake videos that depict sexual violence using the faces of anyone they want. Chatbots are engaging in sexually explicit conversations with young children while Meta and comparable big tech companies are spending big money to prevent any legislation that could regulate this. AI chatbots have even taken part in encouraging young people to take their own lives.
Racist online are making AI videos mocking Martin Luther King Jr. and George Floyd. This isn’t just about the climate, mental health, and job market- generative AI presents us with a moral crisis as well.
Generative AI is undoubtedly one of the most societally damaging innovations that humanity has ever created, and people do not understand the toll it will be taking on us. This damage includes the fresh water supplies it is depleting, a media literacy crisis that has already gotten out of control in this country over recent years, and the degree to which children are leaning on AI for therapy, companionship, and more- at the cost of their critical thinking skills and cognitive development. Data centers drive up electricity prices all over the country, and Americans are literally paying to lose their jobs.
One of my top efforts will be working on legislation to punish AI companies for their environmental crimes, get in the way of mass layoffs, and regulate the big tech attacks on our children’s online safety. Universal healthcare plays a part in this, offering people access to mental health resources that can deter their reliance on chatbots that have led to people taking their own lives. I have no sympathy for AI, and no tolerance for what it has done to our population. It will only get worse if we do not get in the way as aggressively as possible.
6. AffordAbility/Economy
It has gotten exponentially harder to afford being a human being in this country. I moved to New York’s 12th Congressional District with the goal of starting my family here, and that is a reality many people of all ages are struggling harder and harder to achieve. We need to combat Trump’s devastating tariffs, implement and expand government programs to support working class individuals who are struggling with their bills, and continue fighting for Universal Healthcare.
Class mobility feels like a thing of the past, and our government needs to support union organizing and make collective bargaining something accessible to the entire labor force. This means holding big corporations accountable for the effort they put into intimidating and threatening labor organizers, something most of our politicians are too afraid to even talk about.
We must expand our efforts for affordable and federal housing, and New York City is heavily dependent on federal support to meet these needs. A combination of tax expenditures and direct funding offered New York City billions of dollars in support in 2024. Federally-supported programs are a crucial part of the city’s housing infrastructure and are especially critical to our most vulnerable residents.
This needs to be a country where people can start their families and support them, and NY-12 needs to be a district where that dream can be a reality.
7. Combat Hate Crimes
Bigotry and hatred are thriving in this country in ways of which many people are unaware. Social media has become a breeding ground for violent rhetoric, and marginalized communities are paying the price. Trump’s administration has been using rhetoric towards minorities that is directly violent, with the DHS, ICE, and other parts of our government using white supremacist dog whistles on a daily basis.
The demented bullying that Black and brown people, the AAPI community, immigrants, and Jewish people are facing online with support of the Republican ecosystem can make a normal human being sick to their stomach.
Many Democrats have fostered and enabled right-wing narratives about immigrants that feed directly into this dangerous bigotry, and many have sounded similar talking about violent crime rates in Black communities without addressing the material conditions that cause this.
The Jewish community is facing antisemitism on the rise everywhere, and there has been an unfathomable increase in neo-Nazis who are running rampant. You wouldn’t understand this if you only listened to the Israel lobby, because they are almost exclusively focused on antisemitism as it pertains to Israel/Palestine. The pro-Israel community has largely turned a blind eye to the Jew hate that is completely out of control all over the world, because most of these organizations are not focused on combatting Jew hate. They are focused on making Jewish people afraid of the Palestinian liberation movement and any of its supporters, trying to turn Jews who simply want to feel safe against our many fellow Jews who criticize the State of Israel’s genocidal actions.
I have been the target of antisemitic hate, harassment, and death threats since I was a teenager. The far-right message boards peddled baseless conspiracy theories about my family that were frightening to us. My Jewish identity was used to intimidate me out of fighting for gun reform. I would never wish this experience upon another human being.
I am dedicated to fighting hate everywhere- real hate, not alarmist fear-mongering accusations of it- and using our government to combat bigotry at all costs.
8. Protect Reproductive Rights
Women should have access to reproductive care everywhere in this country, and that includes access to services that protect them from family and community members who put them in harm’s way for trying to control their own bodies. Abortions should be free and safe, which means exposing the fraudulent “Crisis Pregnancy Centers” that target women seeking support. The cost of abortions turns women- especially women in marginalized communities- towards alternatives that are highly dangerous and put their lives at risk. Emergency contraceptives must be free and accessible by mail. Women's safety must be protected at all costs.
9. Free Public College + Student Debt Relief
People are graduating with crushing debt into a job market that has been decimated. We have a disastrous shortage of teachers, pediatricians, and many other crucial roles in our communities. Social mobility is harder to achieve than ever. I have childhood friends who are living at home and struggling with student debt because they counted on finding a job after graduation, but the Covid-19 epidemic and the AI crisis have made those dreams harder to obtain than we could’ve possibly imagined.
Getting rid of student debt and making public colleges free offers opportunities for more Americans to obtain a future for their families. It is also crucial for us to open more trade schools and incentivize the next generation to explore skilled trades. Young people in this country see college education as less important than ever, and the next decade will clearly present a serious crisis in our labor force- especially with individuals from other countries disincentivized from moving here out of fear that they will be brutalized and disappeared by the ICE secret police force that knows no laws.
10. Dismantle the Prison Industrial complex
There are very few institutions in this country more abhorrently racist than the prison industrial complex, and that is really saying something. There is a network of government and private entities profiting off of mass incarceration through private prisons, prison labor, and other forms of exploitation. Our prison system does not exist to rehabilitate people and provide them with opportunities for a future. It exists for profit, and people from the most marginalized communities are being used as a cheap labor force to drive it. Every human being deserves the chance to seek a better life, and our prison system is not designed to provide those opportunities. I will not give up on the restorative power of the human spirit, and I will not stop fighting this oppression.
The comparisons between this country’s prison system and our history of slavery are clear as day. Forced labor, the threats of punishment from solitary confinement to denial of visitation, and more. This country’s police force is far more focused on crime in Black communities than it is on exposing the white collar crime that bears consequences which lead to countless lives being ruined. The fact that human beings are being paid mere pennies for their labor is systemic racism at its clearest, and private prisons have no place in a civilized society. Arrests do not prevent crime. Improving people’s material conditions prevents crime.
11. Supporting Ukraine
When Donald Trump promised that he would end Russia’s evil war against Ukraine in a heartbeat, we knew he was lying. But despite how dire the situation looks, we cannot cede any ground to Vladimir Putin. Any “peace deal” that gives Putin the land he seeks to violently obtain might last a few years, but it will only incentivize him to come back for more. This is how Putin operates. The Ukrainian people have seen unspeakable horrors since this invasion began, and they need our unwavering support. This includes supporting offensive operations that attack Russia’s oil refining sector, power sites, and more. We cannot leave the brave Ukrainians fighting to defend their land behind, and must collaborate with other countries to provide them with everything they need.
12. climate Change
The climate crisis puts countless lives at risk, and the AI bubble is fast-forwarding this global threat to humanity. We are faced with a moral crisis when we recognize that many Americans will continue to turn a blind eye, as it’s the people in the poorest parts of the world who will be suffering first. Water shortages are already threatening lives all over the planet, from the Middle East and North Africa to South Asia and the American Southwest. Meanwhile, dangerous AI data centers are expanding in the great state of New York, and our environment will face severe impacts.
I was shocked to learn that there are still Democrats in this country who take money from the oil lobby. This is completely unacceptable, and amorality like that has no room in the party that’s supposed to have a set of standards.
I support a Green New Deal that will create millions of new jobs preparing our country to combat climate change and transition our national energy grid to renewable resources. We must increase renewable energy development, and make the AI giants and oil conglomerates pay big money for the damage they continue dealing to the only planet we will ever have.
